Cancer Update

Some have asked us to post how things are going, so Brad helped me get into our blog again after long neglecting it.  Here goes...

We decided to go over to Redmond Sunday while Lon was feeling good, so he could watch the Seahawks game with one of his football-loving daughters and her family.  I wish I had taken pictures of their house decorated by Emma and Jessie - all Seahawks colors and pictures!!!  Seahawks WON too!!

Here's an updated picture of us taken by our son-in-law, Toby Smith, when we were visiting them this past weekend. He has new photographic equipment for portraits, so Carol put him up to getting Lon's picture before the chemo takes his hair!

BACKGROUND in case you haven't heard:  Lon had just had a CT scan before we left for our week at Pearrygin Lake in early August, and the doctor called us to say there was no doubt the problem was serious - that he feared it was a tumor.  When we returned from our vacation, the biopsy was conclusive: the diagnosis was stage 4 pancreatic cancer with surgery not being an option due to the location of the tumor.  The specialists at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance concurred with that, so the most aggressive chemotherapy seemed to be the best choice for possibly shrinking the tumor.

Lon has had two rounds of chemo at SCCA, and today he began the third round (six hours at the clinic here in Wenatchee and 46 more hours with a pump at home.)  The GOOD NEWS today was that his blood test showed that the cancer marker had gone from 435 in August to 126 today, pleasantly surprising the oncologist - and us!!

We so much appreciate all the love shown to us by so many over the last few weeks!!!  God is good and we are trusting Him for our future - now and in eternity!!

I sure can't picture Lon with no hair! Good news about the count. I can't wait to see what else God is going to do through and with you and us during this time.

That is good news, PTL!
You both have been in our prayers.
