Some Fun Times on this Journey
Well, it has been about three months since we learned Lon had a serious health problem, and ten weeks since his first chemo treatment. It has been quite a journey so far!
Between the treatments on October 22nd and the sixth round of chemo yesterday, we were blessed with some "almost normal" activities. Lon has been having fewer debilitating side effects and a bit more energy, so we jumped on the opportunity to take a little road trip to visit friends and relatives in Idaho for three days. Then this Monday Lon went deer hunting for the day with his cousin Phil, having good success. (You can call and visit with him if you're interested in how that went!)
Blood tests indicated the tumor marker number (CA 19-9) was further reduced - down to 43 this time from 78, 87, 126 and 435 (his first number.) As we understand it, this just means that the tumor is responding to the treatment - not that they expect the tumor to go away or get to a stage it can be removed. So, a MIRACLE would definitely be in order for that, and many have assured us they are praying for just that. THANK YOU so much for your love and concern. We trust in a God who has already done a miraculous work in our hearts.

Dear Lon and Janet,
We've been thinking about you often since learning about this health problem. It's a real mystery why such good people have to go through such a trying ordeal. We are encouraged by the progress Lon is making, and we are hoping for a full recovery.
Hugs,
Tip and Dick Martin
