Six Weeks Later

The last six weeks have been challenging.  After such a delightful time on the Hawaii diving trip, Lon came home to chemo the very next morning, Sept. 9.  After some rough days, he was hospitalized Sept. 16-18 with pneumonia. The hospital stay was very beneficial - helping get control of some of the chemo side effects as well as getting him on an antibiotic to combat the pneumonia. Then when he went in for his chemo treatment on the 23rd, the doctor determined from the lab results that it was ceasing to be effective and they needed to change to a different drug after being on the same regimen for over a year. So...he is on a different regimen that isn't as taxing on his body, giving him a bit more energy and fewer side effects.

We are amazed at God's grace to us, allowing Lon such good health as he has battled this disease for almost 14 months now.  Over the last few weeks he has done some projects at church and around our home - things that had been on hold for a while until the timing was right and he felt up to doing them. God has blessed us with wonderful family and friends who have supported us through so much this year - you know who you are!!!  Thank you for your encouraging words, your acts of love and your prayers for us.
