Lon's Chemo - Round 18

Hello to our dear friends,

Lon is receiving his 18th round of chemo right now.  Our dear Pastor, Bill Cook, just "happened" to wander in for a visit as the nurse was getting Lon's treatment started. We had some time to think about the oncologist's explanation of Lon's latest lab results and CT scan from last Friday, and it was a pleasant surprise to have Bill join us.

The scan didn't show much change in the appearance of the tumor on the pancreas, and there was no indication of cancer on the liver or further into the stomach - all good signs. However, the tumor marker number has continued to increase (after being down to 9 in March - is now up to 18) and that's not the desired direction. So...the chemo drug from which he has had a few months break is now being added back into the regimen.  It causes more severe side effects, but perhaps the effectiveness is worth it.

Lon seems to be taking it all in stride.  He has plans for some fun over the next few months, so those plans - and his great trust in God's wisdom and sovereignty - are helping to keep his spirits up.

Thanks again for your good wishes and prayers for us!!!

Lon & Janet
