Our Good News Continues...
Last week I neglected to post Lon's results, but we were continuing to rejoice because his tumor marker number was down to 39 (from 63 the previous week.) Several have told me they check to see if there are any new blog posts, so I will try to do better at keeping this up weekly.
Today was Lon's third treatment in the current cycle, and since the test result for the CA19-9 marker wasn't in yet when we left the clinic, the doctor felt it noteworthy enough to send us an email reporting that it was down to 22. Normal range is 0-35, so this is very encouraging, indicating that the present combination of chemo drugs (along with all your prayers!) is being effective.
We are so thankful to God that Lon is feeling quite well. He says his energy level is about a 7 on a scale of 0-10, and the only side effect of this latest drug is more hair loss. That definitely beats what he was dealing with before. The stent inserted in his duodenum in December seems to be doing a fine job of allowing for normal digestion of food - another big praise as he is gaining back the weight he lost!!
Our other big praise is that Brad and Lindsey will soon be leaving for their second trip to Ethiopia - this time to bring their daughter, Lielti home with them! We are so excited to meet her and see her get settled in as part of their family. You can check that out on their blog: www.posenjaks.com
