The last two
months have been busy with Lon’s continued treatments and some uncertainty
about what to report, so I realize it is time.
Lon had his 58th chemo treatment on August 22, and at that
time his CA 19-9 tumor marker number had increased to 150 quickly over a period
of six weeks, indicating the cancer was advancing. Lon asked his oncologist about the
possibility of radiation helping, and she was quick to set him up with an
appointment the next day with the radiation oncologist, saying it was worth a
try. He has had two weeks of daily
radiation with this week remaining. As of
last week, the plan was for him to have a rest from all treatment (after this
Friday’s radiation) for a couple months, and then there will be a scan to see
what the effect of treatment has been.
The radiation causes fatigue, and Lon has had increased pain over the
last few months, though he is very slow to admit that.
Lon continues to
be busy with various projects as they come up and he has the strength. An example: He has been heading up the
purchase, hauling, and installation of some new toilets for our church
restrooms. He also continues to serve as
deacon and treasurer at our church.
Thanks so much for all the prayers for us over the last TWO (PLUS) YEARS as Lon has undergone so much treatment in order to continue to bless his family. We are in awe of God's grace and miraculous power. Now I’ll include
pictures of some of the fun things we did in August.
Pearrygin Lake State Park
August camping
Gail was home from PNG and able to attend this year as well as Brad & Lindsey's family. It was Lielti's first time at the camp with us, and that was very fun!! Several families from our church go this same week every year, so we have LOTS of wonderful fellowship!!
Such a great park!
Lielti, Elliott and Aunt Gail coloring
Lielti's chalk art in Winthrop outside Shari's where we went in the eveings for ice cream

There was also lots of activity on their zip line, but I didn't get a good picture of that.
I guess it would take a video!!
And of course we ate!
